Checklist

  • The files are in the current user's .codex directory
  • The provider configuration is near the start of config.toml
  • auth.json contains valid JSON
  • All Codex Desktop processes were fully closed
  • A new task was created after enabling API Key Mode
  • The model belongs to the key's group

Reload the configuration

Save the files, fully quit Codex Desktop, reopen it, and create a new task. Existing windows may continue using the previous configuration.
